Front Bellows Seal

2002 Sears Kenmore Front Load Washer made by Whirlpool(Model#11042832200): Front Boot Seal Torn and leaking water. Most of the time this part gets torn by something sharp left in clothes pockets during the wash or spin cycle. This is called the Bellows Seal, I installed a new one, worked great. Part#8181850.

Hi Bob,
To Change that bellow, you will need a small cresent wrench and device that does not have a sharp edge on it, like a 1/4" nut driver.
Remove the bottom access panel first for more room to do the job.

Then remove the spring that goes around the outside of the bellow that holds it to your main front panel. Then push in on the front of the bellow to bow it back inside, then on the upper right side of the inside part of the bellow is a clamp with a screw that holds the inner part of the bellow to the outside edge of the tub, just loosen the screw with that small cresent wrench, and that whole clamp assembly will come off.
Thats it.

Install the new one,in the exact reverse order, starting with the inner clamp first.

Then with that 1/4" nut driver, use it to pry that outer spring around the front panel where the outer bellow sits.

Good Luck,

Jake

i just received the bellow today and i'm gonna install it tomorrow. i just found out that the machine is made in germany, maybe the parts is cheaper to buy it there. i have a sister who lives there, i will ask her to try to ask the price for that bellow because i'm sure i will need another one within two years.
thank you very much.
