Our 2 year Anniversary!
Thanks to everyone that has come to our Appliance Blog for useful help and tips we try to provide people to save money on refrigerator, washer, dryer, range, stove, oven, dishwasher repairs.
Its been a very busy summer so far, and I will try to return to posting my daily diary soon of the repairs I do.

Warranty Parts Service
OK, I started my Appliance Repair Company last November. Today I went on a service call for a water heater under a 6 year parts warranty, the water heater was installed in 2004, its made by A.O. Smith.
The main control valve on it is bad and needs to be replaced, but I'm very hesitant to put a warranty claim on getting the part, as I'm not really set-up to start doing claims on warranty parts for reimbursement, and would rather not start doing it, as I have enough to do already with my website and forums here.
If anyone can comment on this issue, please do, I welcome all comments from other Appliance Companies and anyone else who would like to say something about it.

Chest Freezer Relay Controller
Sears Kenmore Chest Freezer made by Frigidaire (Model#253.11541101): At times it will defrost and the compressor won't run properly, this is a very rare issue, but i found that the compressor relay control was not making good internal contact to start the compressor at times.
I changed the compressor relay control and its working fine.

I went out on a service call the day after Thanksgiving and Somehow they locked the turkey in the oven on self-clean. The turkey incinerated after a few hours of white-hot baking.

Whirlpool and Sears Kenmore Refrigerator Water Filters
Hi all,
Some parts of the United States have hard water,like Texas and Arizona. Some parts have soft water, like the Pacific Northwest.
In places where the water is harder, changing the refrigerator water filter should be between 3-6 months.
In places where the water is softer, changing the refrigerator water filter should be between 6-9 months.
Here is the basic water filter for the Sears Kenmore made by Whirlpool, and the Whirlpool brand Side By Side Refrigerators.
This filter mounts in the front left side of the kickplate(toeplate).
It has a handle, very easy to change, just twist and turn.

Ice and water filter used in front access grilles in some Whirlpool/Kenmore brands refrigerators. Manufacturer suggests replacing filter every 6 to 9 months or sooner if in a hard water area. Replaces other filter p/ns 4392857, 4396163, WF-NL300, WF-L500 and others.

Sears Kenmore Washer Timer
Hi all,
1994 Sears Kenmore Washer Model#11082872800
(Whirlpool built): clicking sound when trying to spin, motor starts for about 5 sec. then stops then does it repeatingly.
First check to make sure nothing is stuck in the wash tub holes like a nail, bra wire, etc.
I have seen a few do that with that click sound for 5 sec. off and on.
I Replaced the timer and start capacitor, and it fixed that problem.

Thermal fuses
Hi all,
Since about 1990 on, most all the appliances have come with a thermal fuse , to prevent overheating in Dryers and Dishwashers that used to cause some house fires.
Even Ice makers have them as well, that use the heat release way to help the ejector blades to push ice out.

Back to School
Its that time of year again. The Kids start another school year, the washers and dryers are working overtime to keep the clothes clean.
