Default Amana SCD23VW Icemaker Not Working

I have an Amana SxS the icemaker has been a problem on and off for over a year. I've used the hairdryer trick on it a few times and it will start working again. Once I dicovered a low water flow problem caused by the tap that screws into a water feed pipe to supply the water. I replaced that and it has worked for a while now. I also use an inline filter on that line soI'm on my way to get a new one. The water supply pressure to the drinking water through the door seems fine.

I have noticed the coating coming off the icemaker surface and today noticed its in pretty bad shape. So i want to replace the entire icemaker. I am getting conflicting part numbers for the icemaker assembly. There is also another number besides the model and serial number on the unit. It is P1315303WW if that helps.

Is it possible the supply valve is bad also where the water supply enters the rear bottom of the refrigerator? I might as well replace everything that needs it at once.

Suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi,

The Ice maker part#D7824705 has been changed to part#4317943

They have interrogated it into the Whirlpool one.

Here is the cheapest price I found on it:
Part#4317943

Yes, the water inlet valve may be wearing out as well, here is the one for your model:
Part#12195504

Thanks. I've ordered the parts. When they arrive and I'm replacing them would it do any good or harm to use my compressor to blow through the water supply lines from the valve forward to make sure they are clear?

I plan to thoroughly vacuum the coils and base of the unit while I have it apart. I usually do that once a year anyway.

Is there anything else I shold do to keep it running smooth and wuiet while I'm at it?

Thanks again,
Tom

No, you shouldn't have to, I have never had to blow through the lines on any I have changed in my 20 years of appliance repair.

Just just keeping the condenser coils clean is all the maintenance you should ever need to do.

The parts arrived yesterday (ordered Monday). I installed the water inlet and the new ice maker last night. I used the shop vac to clean as much of the dust away from the coils as possible. Its making ice and humming along quietly.
I found the directions for the ice maker a little confusing. They supplied four different wiring kits and suggested splicing the new wires to fit the old wiring. I was working that out and realized the original Amana wiring would plug directly into the new ice maker at the base. So I removed the new wire harness and the old wires color matched and plugged right in.

Thanks for the help, Jake. That's the second time you've helped me through a job. The first was a Kenmore dishwasher with a bad chopper and valve.

Excellent, good job fixing it Tom.

Yes the electrical connector on the old ice maker snaps right in the new ice maker, when you unsnap the new one that came with it.
