Hi, My 3 year old Amana washer (model ALW480DAW) quit during the spin cycle with a terrible burning smell. We removed the clothing to try it again, but the same smell occurs, no actual spinning occurs now. Any suggestions before I pay through the nose for a repair person or a new washer?
Thanks so much, Lori |

![]() Possibly a locked-up pump or idler, possibly something stuck between the spin basket and tub. These are a machine we don't see a lot of, but some info and help on getting in there for a look at: http://www.applianceaid.com/amana-wash.html One word of caution - if replacing the belt, use ONLY the factory approved part. The belt is cloth-coated to allow it to slip a little during initial pump-out. A "generic" replacement will not last. Last edited by Mad Mac; August 8th, 2005 at 08:55 AM.. |
