Default Oven sometimes takes forever to preheat

Hi,

We have an Amana model #ACF4265AS. Sometimes it preheats in a matter of 10 minutes, other times it can take up to 45 minutes, according to the electronic display. Today, we were trying to preheat to 450 degrees. After 15 minutes, it was at 350 degrees. My husband turned it off, and turned it back on, and it read 335 degrees. We did not open the oven door. After 30 minutes, it still was not up to temperature...reading 390. After turning it off and back on again, it read 420 degrees, and then preheated the rest of the way to 450 within a minute. Once it's up to temperature, we have no problems with cooking.

We don't know if the display is just not sensing correctly, or if the oven truely is taking that long to preheat. Like I said, sometimes it preheats in no time.

Any thoughts you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Tina

When you don't turn it off and on again, will it heat properly to 450 before 30 minutes?

You electronic control may be starting to go out:

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the reply. Sometimes, sometimes not. We are preheating right now (trying to get to 425), and it's been 14 minutes and it's only at 325.

How long (on average) should it take to preheat the oven?

Thanks,
Tina

It should take about 15-20 minutes for it to reach 350.
