Default Set Button broken- how to remove stem?

I have an Amana range (AGDS902WW) where the timer, clock, etc. are plastic push buttons. The Set/Cancel button got pushed from the side and broke off, and I can't figure out how to pull out the small stub that is tightly gripped inside the oven. Has anybody dealt with this kind of problem? Any suggestions on how to pull it out would be very welcome. Thanks!

Hi,

There should be a manufacturers# next to the model# that starts with a P.

I get these results:
MFG number P1131831NWW,
MFG number P1131828NWW,
MFG number P1131833NWW,

Thanks for responding!

My manufacturing number is P1131828NW (I didn't see a second W in my notes).

The real problem for me probably doesn't depend very much on the specific model; it's more a question of how to pull out a broken stub that is tightly held inside two tabs without breaking those tabs.

Thanks Brian,

Here's the parts diagram for your model:
AGDS902WW
Diagram#3 Part location#19 is the button that broke? Did you try to pull the stem out with needle-nose pliers? Pull hard.

Oh wait, from the photo of that button, it doesn't come with the stem, its part of your clock#11.

Thanks Jake,

I'm dealing with the #18 knob on that diagram. The problem is that the stem is broken down inside the part that holds it in place so I can't grab it with needlenose pliers. I can't figure out how to get that piece of plastic stem out of there....it is gripped pretty tightly.

I'm thinking I may need to drill a hole and put a screw in it, but it is so small I'm not sure I'll be able to get that skinny a screw.

Oh ok, I see now.

Yea, you can try that, or if all else fails you can take the clock assembly out through the console and then you can get to the stem.
