I have a 9 year old Amana side by side sxd23ve and the freezer no longer keeps cold enough. Ice cubes are still made but are not completly frozen and ice cream is soft. The Fridge temp is only 45 degrees. I have cleaned the condesor coild free of dust and debris. I checked the coils in the freezer and they are completly free of frost. The fan is on in both the fridge and the freezer.
I believe there is a ten year warranty on the compressor,condesor, and supply lines.
Please give any recomendations.

Hi Brian,

Pull your refrigerator out from the wall, and see if your condenser fan on the bottom is blowing good.

Then take the food out of the freezer, and check your inside freezer back panel for frost build-up, better yet is to remove that panel and check your evaporator coils.

All the evaporator coils should have a thin layer of frost on them.

Let us know what you find.

We removed the back panel to expose the coils in the freezer and there was no frost on them, but they were still cold. The fan has been constantly running.

Ok, then yes, it sounds like your compressor has gone bad.

Yes, contact Amana to see if your compressor has a 10 year warranty on it.
