I have a fridge that came with the house and it's not working correctly. It's an Amana SXD25QA3W. I have the options for crused and not crushed ice and the water dispenser of course. It makes ice beautifully but will only dispense the ice if it is crushed. If I flip the switch to not crushed, the auger doesn't turn. Also, the water dispenser doesn't dispense any water. There is an photo sensor on the front but I have never seen the night light come on even with a new bulb. I have tried the plunger switch as well. Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks! |

Hi,
#10 is your water dispenser switch, #3 is your switch for the cubed/crushed ice, #5 is your photosensitive switch, which is no longer available, so you won't be able to fix that: ![]() You would need to use a ohm meter to check continuity on the 2 switches when you push them in, unplug your refrigerator first. To get access to these switches you need to take off the dispenser frame, look for a screw on the bottom frame, then the frame should snap off. Jake

I tested tested #3, #10, #30, and #7 switches and they all tested good.
They have continuity when depressed. Anything else? Would a faulty photo switch cause these other issues? Is there a board or anything with intelligence that is malfunctioning? A fuse? Thanks for your help. |

I don't see a dispenser control board for your model, did you test to see if 120 volts are at the terminal switches?
No, the photo switch shouldn't case this issue. Also check your dispenser wiring connectors either under your top freezer door hinge cover, or bottom one. Jake

That was it!
I wasn't getting 120v at the switches. At the top under the hinge cover there are 2 plugs. The 4 post plug was disconnected. Thanks for your help! |
