Default Amana side by side Frost Problem

OK. I have an amana s/s model number ars9169as I got it and the guy I got it from said that it was working intermittently. When I got it home I opened up the back panel in the freezer compartment and saw that the ice was still melting off. I gave it a couple hrs to defrost and then plugged it in. I just checked it this morning and it already seems to be iceing up more than it should. The evap fan is running but does not seem to be doing it's job. My gut tells me that it is a problem with the defrost thermistor, but I wanted to fly it by you guys. If the unit was froze up would it cause it to stay in defrost mode for longer?

Does the complete evaporator coil in your freezer have a then layer of frost on it?

Thanks,

All the coils look frosted as they should be, but it looks like you have too much frost at the very bottom of your evap. coil.

Ok, I would first put your defrost timer - Manufacturer's Number: 10530703 in the defrost cycle, the defrost timer on your model is located behind the bottom front kickplate grill, turn it clockwise slowly till your refrigerator shuts off, then it will be in defrost, and the defrost heater in your evap. coil should get hot.

Let us know what happens.

ok, when I got home last night everything was defrosted and there was water all over the inside of the fridge. When in defrost mode I don't think anything but the compressor is hot. I also noticed that when I put it back into regular mode that There is an intermittent buzzing and the compressor is hot but it does not cool. Help.
