Default [FIXED] Another cold bottom/warm top issue

Just want to say thank you in advance. This forum is outstanding.

Anyway, here's the issue: As many others on here, I have an Amana bottom freezer, model# AFB2534DES, that is working fine in the freezer, but the fridge section is warm.

The damper is working fine. There is no frost build up on the inside freezer walls.

Upon removing the interior panel concealing the evap. fan, etc., there is some frost build up within. The evap. fan does NOT kick on when the compressor does. However, if I give the fan blades a little push, they'll start turning and continue to do so on their own, but the motor makes a bit of a ticking noise and I'm getting no cold air pushing through the damper even after I replace the back freezer wall interior panel. I don't know what kind of rpm's these fans should maintain, but it seems pretty weak. There is no ice blocking the air tunnels.

I am assuming the evap. fan motor is bad, but wanted to post this before ordering the part to get some trusty expert opinions. The main thing that concerns me is that even after getting the fan to start spinning, I'm still getting no cold air through the damper.

Again, thank you very much for your time.

Hi Snowman,

Yes, you will need a new evaporator fan motor. You will find once you replace it, you will get a full force of cold air up to your refrigerator section.

Here's the cheapest one I found for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 12002744

12002744

Jake, you are the man. Thank you so much for the timely response.

The motor you found is cheaper than the cheapest one I had found, and it ships today instead of 3-7 days from now. So, in essence, you just saved me the price of a premium membership to this forum.

I'll definitely spread the word.

Default Success!

So, I ordered the part on Friday and it arrived this afternoon. I was a little worried at first because it looked nothing like my original evap. motor. But, it mounted right up, plugged right in, and works like a charm. The whole process took about 15 minutes.

I've already told several people about this blog and they were all very interested, so hopefully you'll get some more premium memberships out of it.

Thanks again.
