Angry [FIXED] Gas does not light - Amana LG9209W2

Amana LG9209W2 (production model number PLG9209W2). I think this model is very similar to Amana LGA90AW.

Symptoms - Ignitor glows and stays red hot continuously; gas valve does not open to provide gas.

Diagram - Shows gas valve components - flame sensor, ignitor, etc.
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=17633

Gas Valve - RSPC part number 58804 - 25MO1A Type 146 120V 60Hz

Troubleshooting So Far - Followed instructions on http://www.applianceaid.com/gas_dryer.html#noheat and read through 100 forum posts here about similar problems.
  1. Verified gas supply. Fireplace and heat work great.
  2. Verified 120V at gas valve. Makes sense because this is the same circuit that energizes the ignitor, which is always glowing.
  3. Tested flame sensor. Flame sensor has continuity (0 ohms) when cold. After ignitor runs for a minute or so and I turn off and unplug the dryer, flame sensor has an open circuit (no continuity). Once flame sensor cools down I hear a click and then continuity (0 ohms) again. I presume this is working as designed to allow gas to flow when either the ignitor is hot or the gas is already lit. But I am not positive.
  4. Tested resistance across gas valve coils with dryer unplugged. 2-pin coil is #10 on the diagram linked above; 3-pin coil is #15.
    3-pin coil pins 1,2 - 1430 ohms
    3-pin coil pins 1,3 - 585 ohms
    3-pin coil pins 2,3 - 1980 ohms

    2-pin coil pins 4,5 - 0 ohms.
  5. Tested voltage across gas valve coils when ignitor glowing.
    3-pin coil coil pins 1,2 - 120V
    3-pin coil coil pins 1,3 - 120V
    3-pin coil coil pins 2,3 - 1V [slowly increasing]
    2-pin coil pins 4,5 - 950mV [slowly increasing]
Unfortunately I don't have diagnostic information to show whether the gas valve coils resistance and voltage are within spec. Several questions: (1) Confirm #3 above describes proper operation of the flame sensor, (2) Do my coil diagnostic results show any problems? For example, should the 2-pin coil show 0 ohms? (3) If I need new coils is there a kit I can purchase containing both coils, or do I need to purchase separately per the diagram? The same gas valve seems to be used in many dryers so the coils should be common. (4) If I need to order separately, the diagram shows two entries for #10 and two for #15. Does it matter which of each part I order, Whirlpool or Speedqueen?

Thanks for your assistance.

I didn't realize the diagram link above defaults to diagram #1. Here is the direct link to diagram #4, gas valve components.

Sounds like your gas valve assembly is bad Manufacturer's Number: 58804

Unfortunately, the appliancepartspros.com site is down right now.

Here's the same part from RepairClinic:
Manufacturer part number 58804 is RepairClinic item number 1247

Does this mean 0 ohms across the 2-pin coil is normal? A few of the forum posts stated all coils should have at least a few hundred ohms resistance.
Can I turn off the gas and disassemble the gas valve to prevent buying a $100 part? Thanks for the response.

I decided to replace the 2-pin gas valve coil since the 0 ohm resistance did not seem right, coils are cheap, and I want my dryer back working fast. It was cheapest to get both coils in kit 279834 for $19.82 from a local supplier. The coils are not returnable once opened but two-way shipping would be approx the total price.

I tested the new 2-pin coil and sure enough there was approx 1200 ohms across the coil. So I know my old 2-pin coil is defective. I replaced both coils and the dryer now works fine.

This is the third problem with my dryer I have fixed very inexpensively with the help of this forum. If I ever need to troubleshoot a gas valve and burner assembly problem again, it will take me about 5 minutes since I understand how it works now.
