Default bad relay?

My Amana SXD25AW side-by-side is having a problem with the freezer, which isn't cold enough to freeze things (even with the thermostat on the coldest setting). We had some bad thunderstorms and wind the other day and limbs hitting against powerlines caused flickering lights, creating something like a brown-out condition. Now I can hear a relay or something under the unit intermittently clicking. Any idea what this is and how to repair it?

Yes, its possibly your compressor relay. I'd unplug your refrigerator and remove it, then shake it, if it rattles at all inside then its bad.

Here's the compressor relay for your model:
Manufacturer part number 4357156 is RepairClinic item number 577548

Default bad relay?

Thanks for the post, Jake. I don't see the relay you show in my refrigerator, though. What I have is a Supco "3 n 1 Start", Model No. RCO410, Relay Overload Start Capacitor Combination. Searching on the internet it appears these were used pre-mid-nineties; my fridge was purchased in 1995. If this is what I need to replace, could you give me instructions for connecting it to the junction of several wires, capacitors, etc. that come together in the plastic holder it came out of? Thanks!

Do you have a 3 in 1 hard start on your frig now " RCO410" ? If so someone at some point has replaced your relay already . It is a straight wire for wire replacement if that is indeed the case , very simple as the wires are color coded .

Thanks, Tim. The relay has four tabbed prongs on the top, without markings that I can see. There were 2 wires connected to it, black and white. How can I tell where to reconnect them to a new 3-n-1? The relay in my fridge was inserted into a round plastic receptacle, with 2 other electrical components inside, with a wire connected to them; when I pulled the relay out the wires connected to it disconnected before I could see which tabs they had been connected to.

Ok, I see, did you already get a new 3 in 1 yet?

No, I wasn't sure before Tim's post what to do. Should I order one of those instead of the first relay you posted? Perhaps it will come with connection instructions?

Since the 3 in 1 was already installed, its better to stay with it. Yes, it will come with connection instructions.

You can order it here:
Manufacturer's Number: RCO410
