Default Amana SRD25 Ice Maker Problem

I have a side by side Amana SRD25 refrigerator which is about 13 years old and have a problem with the ice maker. Yesterday I noticed the ice cubes were not completely cut individually from the tray. 24 hrs after dumping the ice in the bin, I see that the tray is filled with ice, I can hear the motor humming, but no ice in the bin this time.

What is the model of this ice maker and what could be the problem?

Hi Luke,

Sounds like your ice maker has gone bad.

There should be about 3 more letters/numbers after the 25 at the end of your model#. Your model# tag is located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling. Also please post your Manufacturer Number, it will start with a "P"

The model is SRD25S5E and the mfg PN is P1190302WE.

I thought maybe it would be the plastic drive gear since I can hear the unit make noise. Yesterday I thought it would be the heater element.

Unfortunately on this model you cant just replace separate parts on the ice maker.

Here's the cheapest ice maker assembly I found for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: D7824706Q

D7824706Q

Jake,

Thanks for the sending me PN and the link to the this ice maker.

I never replaced this and I think it's 3 screws, but is there anything special I need to know about the water line and power? I'm guessing that the water line is just a hose that slides right off without any special connection, and the power is clipped on from the back of the freezer to the ice maker.
Is there enough room and do I need to remove the cover to unplug the power connection? Anything special I need to know about the fill cup? We are assuming that the wire harness is OK because some units come with the wire harness and some do not. A link to an instruction sheet with pictures would be helpful.

Thanks Again,

Luke

Nope, all you do is remove the 3 screws holding the ice maker in place, then unsnap the electrical connector that plugs in to it, nothing to worry about the fill cup or fill tube.

Its best to remove the auger cover#14 here first:

There isn't any replacement instructions that come with the new ice maker, sorry.

Jake,

The ice maker started working again when I heard ice placed in the bin. So I held off ordering the ice maker ... but today when I opened the freezer door I notice frozen ice crystals all the way down the entrance. Is this attributed to the ice maker or do I have another problem with this refrigerator?

Thanks again for your advice.

Yes, its likely contributed to the ice maker overflowing, and the new ice maker will fix that problem.

Hi dog,

Whats the model# of your refrigerator? and I can tell you.

The model# tag should be located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.
