Gas Dryer doesn't always ignite
Brand:
Amana
Age:
More than 10 years
I have an Amana lg8409w2 that seems to be igniting intermittently. I opened the access panel on the bottom, removed the lint container and it was relatively clean. I vacuumed out the bottom area, and tried starting the dryer to get a flame.
It seems very regularly, the dryer will only ignite every third time I start it. It doesn't seem to matter if it's on the automatic sensor mode or timed mode.
Any ideas what could cause this dryer to only ignite every few times I start it?

Yes, its your gas coils that are bad.
You will need new gas coils, you can order them here, they come together in a kit:
Gas Valve Solenoid Set 279834 Order now for same day shipping. 365 day return policy. RepairClinic.com
Your Amana uses the exact same gas coils as the Kenmore/Whirlpool models.
Just unplug your dryer then take off the lower bottom front access panel below your door, then you will see the gas valve with 2 gas coils on top of it, pull off the quick disconnects from each of the 2 gas coils, then remove the top bracket that holds them in place, and install the new ones.
