Default Amana Dryer Not Drying Clothes

Amana Commerical Quality (steel drum)
120/240 - 60 amp - 3 wire circuit
Raythron Appliance Model # LEA60AW
Manuf. Model #PLEA60AW

Dryer worked like a champ from new in May, 1998 till about a month or so ago.

Bottom line is its just not drying the clothes by the end of the cycle.
I have:
  • Cleaned the lint filter thoroughly
  • Made sure there is no blockage between vent and outside
  • Hose connection is a small elbow - no problems there
The dryer seems to heat up just fine. Clothes going into it are damp, not soaking wet. We dont overload the dryer.

Im perplexed , wife is irritated .

Would love some tips to try or just to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

Hi,

Since you said the vent is fine, its possible its a bad thermostat or heating element starting to go out.

Here's a couple good places to start:
