Amana dryer model PLGA60AW. Gas cycles on drum gets real hot but does not stop heating. Eventually the blower starts making noise from being so hot so we know the load is done. On auto mode, load never ends, on timer mode the load eventually ends but everything is super hot. I've cleaned the duct work and replaced the cycling thermostat twice. Replacing the cycling thermostat worked temporarily but the issue is back. I did get some extra lint out after getting a dryer vent brush and cleaning really well. Maybe I blew the cycling thermostat again?? Any help would be appreciated. Dryer is only about 4 years old, don't want to get a new one yet.

Check your vent exhaust, if it has a very long run till it gets to the outside it will cause the dryer to do this.
Another link here may help. Jake

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have at least a 15 foot run with 2-90 degree turns until it exhausts. The turns are unavoidable. Vent is in the floor. Hopefully this diagram makes sense and will not get lost with the formatting. Vent goes out back of dryer into floor. Vent goes under floor to get to outside (u-turn).

Flap opens and closes fine. Maybe replacing the cycling thermostat will work this time around. Thanks again. |

Yes, thats a long run, as long as its clear, changing that cycling thermostat should be fine. The last resort is buying an indoor vent kit, which you can buy at any hardware store.
