I just aquired an Amana Heavy Duty Dryer, and I not sure how old it is, but it just quit working. It wont start up, and after you try to start it a motor keeps running in the panel. Any idea whats wrong?

Check your exhaust vent--make sure it is not blocked.

If you found lint blockage/kinked vent hose/lint blockage at the outside vent hood/flattened outside vent hood from being kicked or hit by an object such as a basketball...

...that would indicate a high problability of a *blown* thermal **non-resettable** safety fuse inside the dryer itself(a temperature sensitive shut-down fuse).

Assuming that your dryer is an electric model(220 volt) AND

if the vent system was okay--I would be checking for:

Circuit breaker fuses

Plug wires at the back of the dryer(terminal connections)

Power receptacle at the wall(dryer plug goes to this)

Door switch continuity test

Wiring on the motor switch

Timer for damaged contacts

Damaged wiring inside dryer(anywhere)
