Default Amana Dryer Squeaking,Driving us crazy

Hey,

I've about had it with Amana Products . The dryer squeaks when it is drying sometimes worse than others but it still dries well. Could it be a belt.

Let me know if you need anymore info.

Later,
Chris

Hi,

Model#?

Belts normally don't make any noises on dryers.

Idler pulley, drum support wheels, motor are common for squealing.

It is a DLE330RAW

could be anything from a loose screw to a roller to a pulley. Not hard to take apart. You can try applying a light coat of TURBINE oil to roller SHAFTS and idler pulley SHAFT to see if that helps. Check all the screws to make sure none are loose too. Motor doesn't get oil, just so you know.

Normally not bad...depends on what ends up being wrong.

For roller wheels or idler pulley, not normally....if the motor ends up being the noise maker, maybe.

This can help narrow down where/what the noise is comming from, but is not a repair. Once you find the trouble maker, replace the offending item.

Some items can be seen with the lower front panal off.

Idler wheel and bearing

Drum roller

What is the pulley next to the heating element and what is the play the the belt spins?

Should the one the the belt spins on have any back and forth play. The one close to the heating element doesn't seem to spin freely(I think it is the culprit) ?

Drum support wheel/roller.

It will move back and forth on the shaft.

What is the best way to remove this thing and is there more than one? I tried turning it with a screwdriver and it isn't moving for anything. do I need to support the drum at all?
