Question washer won't spin

I have an Amada Speed Queen model # LWS34AW. For the past couple weeks, everytime it would spin, it would make a loud roaring noise. Finally a couple days ago, it burt the belt. My husband replaced the belt and everything seemed to work fine until it was time to spin and it didn't. The belt would move during the agitation but when it was time to spin nothing happened. Someone told me it sounds like the bearings have gone bad. How would I know that it is the bearings and what else could it be. The washer is several years old and I don't want to put alot of money into repairing it.
Thanks.

Yes,

I have seen this happen before several times, Your spin bearing is bad. It would cost more to fix than its worth.

Time to go washer shopping.
