Default Caloric oven

I have a caloric wall oven, that is about 17 years old. I always had problems with the ignitor. I recently ordered a new one, it solved the problem for about 2 weeks, now it is not working again. The gas valve will open but the oven doesn't light, it would take 2 or 3 times for it to get it to light. I was wondering if there is another problem, with it or did I get a bad ignitor.

Sounds like you got a defective igniter, you should have a parts warranty on it.

Thanks
It just seem strange that it only lasted a couple of weeks, just waiting on the return authorization, to send it back in.

thanks

I need some more help, I did get a second ignitor, but it only seemed to work for a couple of months before I started having the same problem. The gas valve opens in the appropriate amount of time, but the oven still will not light.

Any more help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Thats odd, but its got 17 years of usage on it, so its possible another part like your safety valve or gas regulator could be worn out as well. Its probably better to call out an appliance repair company now to look at it.

Thanks for the reply
Well at this point I don't want to spend any money on it, the oven is 17 years old. I rather spend it on something new, the house still has the original gas cooktop, 45 years old, I would rather pull both out and put in a freestanding range. The oven box is so small, 22 inches inside width, I am limited in size to what I could put in there.

I do have a lifetime warranty on the ignitor I bought last year, so I got another one, it came today, but it was packed in just an jet pack enevelope, I think you can guess what it was like when I pulled it out.

The problem is basically the same as it has been all along, the gas valve is opening within about 30-45 seconds, but it just isn't lighting up, once it lights, it would work fine. Does that sound like a different problem.

Thanks
Chris
