Default amana dryer lg9209w2 won't start

amana dryer model lg9209w2

i tried starting it and i heard a 'pop' ad the gfi outlet it was plugged into blew. i reset the gfi and the circuit at the panel. i left the dryer unplugged for 10 minutes and opened and closed the door. all i get on the display is two dashes where the time is usually displayed and the 'extended tumble' - when i press 'start' or 'cycle' it shows what looks like 'SH' on the display with just about all other phrases/cycles on the display and the dryer just emits a long, continuous tone.

any ideas?

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't have an error code list for your model.

Since the start button is integrated into the control board assembly, thats likely your problem.

Here is a new control board for your model:

is it possible that it's just the door switch that is causing it to not start? the display does indicate 'door open'.

is there a way to test the door switch?

Yes, you would need to ohm out your door switch with a ohm meter to check for continuity. Make sure you unplug your dryer before doing this.

ok i got it apart after noticing the two front screws at the very bottom of the lower front panel.

it was in fact the control panel (i guess $240 is still cheaper than a new dryer). after i got the panel off i noticed scorch marks in between the main board and the smaller board that stands off just above it. i didn't see anything blown just the scorch marks right at the bottom, rear which would be right below the dryness level button.

does anyone repair these boards or is it pretty much one more thing to go on the e-waste recycling pile?

thanks for the help.

Nope, Unfortunately they just throw the old control boards away .

Glad you were able to find that the control board was bad.
