Check your owners manual for the warranty agreement and it will tell you whats covered. If you bought it in 2002 then your 5 yr. warranty is out, but some Amana's have a 10 compressor warranty where they supply the compressor and you just have to pay labor, which can be between $200-$400.

Question here we go again....

It's happening again. The 3-in-1 maybe wasn't such a good idea. Woke up to a warm freezer today. Compressor is cool to the touch. Called for service...be here tomorrow morning. I'll have to question them on the replacement part(s). I contacted Amana after the first failure- their response was:

Jeeeeezus-- it'll be another $49 for a house/service call----probably another 3-in1---then what? Odd thing is, as I'm sitting here typing this I swear I heard the compresso kick in. Guess I'll try calling Amana again tomorrow-- at least to vent!

The compressor will have to be changed, another 3-in-1 kit won't solve this problem. They never should of put a 3-in-1 start device on in the first place, I would demand they install a new compressor with the original start device relay, if they give you static, file a complaint at www.bbb.org

Default Amana Refigerator

I purchased a amana about 4 and a half years ago, I do not have a recepit but I had the Maytag/Amana rep look up that the unit was delivered to Lowes on March 5th 2002, so with that being said even if I baught it the next day I would still be covered under the warrenty on the compressor for parts and labor. Im getting the same problem it is buzzing for about 10 sec. then it stops and it isnt cooling anymore. I called tech in the area they are all busy. One of them mentioned that it is probably the overload relay, which would not be covered under the warrenty. Well I called and the relay is only $17 bucks at a local shop. DO I change the relay and get that out of his mind, and confirm that it is the compressor????? will I void any warrenties if I change the relay?? When I talked to the parts store guy he said it was prolly the compressor because they had 30 + compressors in stock and that ment that there was a problem with that unit. So if I was a service guy I think this would need a compressor change-out not a relay. Dont know how many trips this guys is gonna try to get out of me??? But this seems to me to be a well know problem with techs.

Not sure how I would prove when this was purchased to be able to get the warrenty ??? How much do you think Ill get charged.

Date Purchased : after March 5th 2002
Model # : ARSE664BW
MFGN # : PARSE664BWO
Serial # : 0111129626

Whats the model# of your refrigerator? Its located in the refrigerator section on the uppers walls or ceiling.

How old is your refrigerator, most of the Amana models have a 5 yr. parts and labor warranty on sealed system/compressor.

Thanks,

Yea, its definitely cheaper than $1500-$2500.

Your looking at about $400-$600 for everything.
