Hi,
I have an issue with an Amana top loading washer. There seems to be a couple of symptoms: 1) Unit does not do anything in Regular cycle except fill with water (no aggitate, spin, or drain). In Permanent Press and Delicate cylces if Fills, and will not aggitate, but spins and drains. 2) Unit is not getting clothes as dry as it used to, as they are still pretty damp ((at least when I used Delicate to empty the water - maybe it doesn't run long enough in that mode?) Thanks for any assistance. |

It sounds like a possible Timer or Motor issue, I would check your motor connections for burned spots at the motor wire harness connector.
Here is how to access the inside of your Amana washer: http://www.applianceaid.com/amana-wash.html#access Having the repair manual is a good to have if you want to fix it yourself: Service manual, Amana/Speed Queen 1 belt style washersJake

Question how do you replace the belt? The direct drive pump appears to be permanently attached to the motor shaft. I have removed the 3 torx screws and have tried to unseat the pump from the motor shaft however it wont budge is there a special tool to do this? Any assistance or any ideas on this one it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

Your on the right track, if those 3 torx screws are removed from the pump, then it will just pull off the motor shaft. Some are very hard to get off, keep trying, pull very hard, you will get it.

I finally did get the pump off the motor shaft (had to be pried with screwdrivers wedged between pulley and body of pump and then banged with a rubber mallet.Cleaned the motor shaft with emery cloth to ensure that it would go on and off easily again.) Now that the worn belt is off which had totally slipped and not on the pulleys how does the new belt route ? I have it on but is too loose not grabbing is there a diagram or picture that show the belt with the idler pulley routing? Sorry to be a bother/pest But have searched for diagrams and don't find any. |
