    Post Water Dispenser SDX26VL

The model number is, I believe, SDX26VL. Amana side-by-side fridge with ice maker/water dispenser.

The ice maker works. The water dispenser does not.

I decided to try and fix the water dispenser and have found the following:

    1. Water flow thru the "Y connector" from the water supply is good...when I depressing the water dispenser lever water flows.
    2. Water flow to and from the water filter in the box at the top thru the second connector is good...when I depress the water dispenser lever water comes out of the solenoid.
    3. I found the water tank behind the crisper in the bottom at the back when following all the above lines but couldn't undue the lines, so I just clipped them off.
3a. This water tank was full of water and most definitely not frozen, water flows freely out of both hoses, in and out.
3b. One I had taken this tank out, I pushed the water dispenser lever and water starting flowing freely out of the in-tube into the now missing tank...so i know water was going it.
    4. Next because I don't know where the "out" line is going from the water reservoir, I blew air from the bottom connector, near the hinge of the fridge going up to the dispenser to see if there was a clog between there and the dispenser...I felt air coming out of the dispenser so there is no clog there.
    5. Now, I just don't know what is between the "out" from the water reservoir tank and the line coming from under the fridge to the dispenser---is there an evap or condensor in between?
    6. The line coming from under the fridge, before going up to the dispenser, is completely dry with no moisture whatsoever coming out. I tried blowing into it...nothing.

Is something plugged between the water reservoir out line and the line going up to the dispenser? What should I do to check and/or unplug?!?!

    Hi,

Please check your model#, I can't pull up any information on the one you posted.

This sounds very complicated, so your not planning to use your water tank/reservoir thats in your refrigerator at all anymore?

    Default Update/Corrections

Thanks, I checked the model #. I had the letters backwards. The model # is SXD26VL.

Yes, I do plan on using the chilled water reservoir. I know it was crazy but I took the water reservoir out in trying to find the problem. After I had tested both the solenoids, and they both worked, I was just tracing the tubes and they led to the water reservoir. It looked filled and was really heavy but I couldn't really tell if it had water or was frozen because the connectors were heat clamped on. So I clipped the connectors (the in and out tubes) and lo and behold it was filled with water (so I knew it wasn't frozen). I know water was going in (or trying to go in) because when I pressed the dispenser lever water came shooting out of the now clipped in-hose to the water reservoir and onto the fridge bottom. I've already bought some splicing connectors that I intend to use to reconnect both the in- and out-hoses to the water reservoir tank when I gets some advise on what do to next.

As I mentioned before, I've already checked the hose from the hinge in the front of the refrigerator up to the dispenser by blowing in it. Air came out of the dispenser.

So, it seems the problem must be somewhere between the out-hose on the water reservoir and the hose in the front near the bottom hinge leading up to the dispenser.

The problem is that I don't know what is in between. The out hose from the water reservoir tanks dissappears into the fridge. The hose in the front near the bottom hinge leading up to the dispenser is connected to a hose which itself disappears into the bottom of the fridge.

This is where I'm stuck. I have the fridge pulled out into the kitchen in classic do-it-yourself fashion and the wife and kids are about to do their bidding with me

Yours had the before and after the filter water inlet valves? as seen here:#83 and #103:

Here is a thread I helped a member with the other day, your model uses the exact same 2 water inlet valves:
    SRD26VW, No water past filter

    Default Lines

Thanks. That's right. Good image I can reference to now.

    1. As for #83 (before filter) in IMAGE 3: I checked the water flow coming OUT of the "Inlet Line" and "To Water Filter" on Image 3 upon depressing the water dispenser lever=water coming out. I also checked water coming out of BOTH lines beforet the "Y" to see if both working=good.

    2. As for #103 (after filter) in IMAGE 3: I checked the water flow coming OUT of the both lines at #183 (to see if both were working)=water coming out of both. I also checked the "From Water Filter," or "Outlet Line" and water was flowing when I pressed the water dispenser lever.

    3. I then followed the lines coming from #103 in IMAGE 3. One line goes up to the top of the fridge along the back and disappears into a hole at the top (I think this is for the ice dispenser). The other line goes along the bottom towards the compressor and then connects into a four line junction. (Line one=to water filer, Line two=from water filter, Line three = from #183, Line four (thicker) connects on the inside to water reservoir tank and on the outside to ?).

    4. From that (my original story begins), I found the water reservoir tank inside behind the crisper. Clipped it out. It was not frozen. I pressed the water dispenser lever and water started shooting out of the water reservoir inlet line (which I think is one of the lines shown in IMAGE 1).

    5. In Image 1, if you look at the bottom left of the fridge where the wheel is....at that area is a hose connector. One side goes up to the dispenser through the door and the other side disappears into the bottom of the fridge. I took the connection off and blew air into the hose going up through the door. I could feel air coming out of the dispenser. Then I blew air the other way. Nothing. No air passage.

    6. From the water reservoir there is a hose (not the hose where water comes in from the filter) that disappears into the fridge.

What is between the OUT of the water reservoir hose and the hose at the bottom of the left hand side of the fridge is a mystery to me. What is there? Is something in there causing the blockage? I am SURE #83 and #103 work. Should I use an air compressor? Snake? Help?

    Default Part Clarify

Jake, this is the water reservoir -- i clipped the lines right near the main plastic body to get it out. Part one of my problem is that I do not know where the "out" side of the water reservoir goes to. One side is connected to the solenoid in the previous post. The other side disappears into the body of the fridge. Where does it go/connect to? And, can whatever it is connected to become clogged? And, if so, how do I unclog or repair it?

To tell you the truth, I really wouldn't know where the water tube lines 'in' and 'out' go unless I was with you at your refrigerator, and It would be impossible to speculate without a diagram, which I don't have access to.

This is turning out to be more technically involved than normal, I would suggest getting an appliance repair company out now to solve this issue.
