Default Location of Adaptive Defrost Unit in Amana Bottom Freezer

I had a repair person out today to diagnose problem with my 2 year old Amana ABB2527DES bottom freezer that had a 60 degree refrigerator with freezer working. He took off the back of the freezer, coils were full of frost ran some tests. Took off the control panel at the top of the fridge and then told me for $352 he could replace the adaptive defrost unit. Of course that price is ridiculous for a $40 part, but I can't seem to locate the unit. Where is it?
Another thing maybe worth mentioning is the numbers indicating the setting of the frig and freezer have been in a fast flicker for about 2 months. This flickering stopped after everything was put back together. Could there have been a loose connection and everything will work well now that the flickering has stopped? Everything is off as I'm waiting for all the ice on the coils to melt, please help me find the adaptive defrost unit so I can replace it myself and save $300.
Thank you

Hi,

Should only be one board in this style....same as the control board....

Main control board

Probably best to replace the defrost thermostat at the same time.

Thermostat kit, defrost

Probably not, we never get that lucky...happened once, usually means will happen again.

Thanks for the info, you confirmed my suspicions. It looks like the new board will need to be soldered to the ribbon connector which connects it to a smaller board that displays the numbers. Is this easy to do?

All plug and play...no soldering.
