Default 1955-ish Thermador 4 burner elec. cooktop

I am trying to find some information on obtaining parts (specifically new burners) for this particular Thermador. I cannot find a serial number anywhere on it….it may be hidden by grease; it may be inaccessible without complete removal of the unit.

It is a 45” wide by 18” deep 4 burner unit with one large 8” burner on the right hand side and two 6” (appx.) burners in the middle, and another 6” burner on the left side with a very strange looking deep well unit attached beneath the left hand unit. This deep well allows the unit to be pushed downward, though I cannot figure out removal at this juncture.

Two of the burners are definitely fried, while the other two burners get warm, but do not bring things to a boil when pots placed on them. Long heat up, long cool down on the burners as well.

Can you shed some light on what the potential for finding new burner parts are for this unit? Are they new, retrofit or used parts? Is it worth the customers time and money to have me work on this? Or would I be best served to upgrade the unit to a new electric cooktop? Is this a 220 volt unit?

Thanks once again for a great forum.....I use it often.

    Hi,

Probably best to remove ( remove power and write down the wires! ) the burner(s) and take them in to local appliance parts depot to see if anything can be used/purchased to replace them.

Thanks Jeff....will most likely do just that. Customer considering replacement cooktop....would then just have to reconfigure the countertops, may be easier than tracking down parts for the Thermador.

Esp with the age of the unit....probably no one left from that era working there now
