Arms aren't turning on top or bottom

Our 6 year old Frigidaire Gallery Ultra Quiet Plus dishwasher (model # GLDB656JS) is no longer washing anything! Neither the top nor the bottom arms are spinning. It fills and drains like it is supposed to be doing. The heating element is working fine. We've taken out the bottom screen, tray and arm and looked around. Nothing's clogged. But it makes a VERY loud noise when the arms are supposed to move (but don't!) Are we destined for a new washer or is this possibly something relatively easy like a belt? Is it worth it to call in a service guy at $75.00 to walk through the door. Please advise!!!:confused:

Hi skmcvay,

Sounds like the pump impellers are shot, or something is caught inside the pump keeping it from pumping the water through the spray arms.

so... how much will that cost me. What I mean is I nor my husband are particularly handy with things like this:o . Is this a simple fix or will the repair guy have to order a $200 part to fix .

Hi Karen,

You said it was pumping the water out ok so I think it might just be the labor and service call charge. The pump turns one way to drain and the other way to wash. Can you hear the motor running when it's washing or in the wash cycle? I'll see if I can get some prices for you.
