Hi All,
For about a week now my heater has been running erratically. The behavior is essentially this; I'll set the desired temperature at the thermostat, the heater will turn on (blowing hot air) but it will only stay on for a few minutes before shutting off, regardless of whether or not the set temperature is reached (or if there is a temperature change at all). After a few more minutes it will start back up again, run for a few more minutes and then shut off again. The unit will run through this on-off-on-off cycle all day long unless the set temperature is equal to or less than the actual temperature.
I initially thought this was a thermostat problem and so I replaced it with a Honeywell 7400 5-1-1 programmable. Unfortunately the behavior of the unit has not changed.
The heating unit is a York - I couldn't find a model number on the unit - it's about 9 years old and runs on LP gas. Any help, ideas, things to check would be appreciated.
Thanks!
