View Full Version : Whirlpool Quiet Partner DU960PWKQ0 not draining

My whirlpool dishwasher is not draining (apparently a fairly common issue). It does wash. I've taken apart the pump/drain assembly from inside the dishwasher. The drain impeller appears to be clear. The drain hoses are all clear.

Doesn't the same motor power both impellers? The wash impeller works fine, but when i cancel/drain, it does not spin at all. There is a faint hum that lasts 5-10 seconds, but then that quiets.

Replace motor/drain assembly (a fairly costly option), or am I overlooking something simple.

Thanks in advance....

Hi,

Yes, your model has the pump and drain motor all in one together.
Sounds like something is jammed in the lower impeller.

If you feel like you want to start taking the pump apart to check, you can, its a very involved job just to let you know, other than that, you would need a new pump/motor assembly, which like you said is costly.

Thanks.

Took apart that much of the pump. lower impeller was clear (there are only 2, right?). Put it all back together. No joy. Same exact behavior.

One more followup - when washing, seems to wash for a minute or two, then stops washing.

Yes 2,

Sounds like the motor bearing is going out, it would be very costly to put a new one in.

Jeff1 has a great dishwasher repair page, this may help you:
