Today, after years of flawless operation, our dishwasher went dead. No lights, no power at all. The light switch and power outlets on the same circuit all function, just the dishwasher doesn't. It had just successfully finished a cycle 2 days ago.
It would certainly be great if anybody here would have a hint before I call for service.
THANKS!
Mike

Hi,
A copy:
My dishwasher will not start: Most common d/w power is 120 volts, check for 120 volts with a volt meter (http://www.applianceaid.com/images/voltmeterhowto2.JPG) at the main power harness (http://www.applianceaid.com/newimages/dwwires.jpg) where it comes into the dishwasher, you will have to remove the lower access panals (http://www.applianceaid.com/dishaccess.html) to get to the power box. Dishwashers also have at least one and most newer dishwashers have two door switches that must be checked. You will find then behind the console at the door latch area. ( yours is built into the start switch )

Hi Jeff,
thanks for your very helpful info!
Once I had the lower access panel off, I saw what the problem was right away: the power cables had been squeezed in a little box and apparently they felt too hot in there yesterday, so one of them melted, causing the power outage. Fortunately, the dishwasher itself had no problems at all. After rewiring everything was back to normal again. I just don't understand how those cables had no problem for 3 years and all of a sudden...
Well, I'm glad I don't have to do the dishes in the sink now!
Cheers,
Mike:D
