View Full Version : Heating too long?

I have purchased a house with a KitchenAid model# KUDS21MSO dishwasher (it says "Superba Monterey 21, Sure Temp Water Heating" on the front panel). I think that it is about 12 years old. I have no manual.

When I turn on the dishwasher a light that says "heating water" goes on. The dishwasher heats the water for about 20 min before it starts. This seems to me to be a long time. I have never had a dishwasher with a "heating water" feature before so I don't know if this is normal or there is something wrong with it that needs to be fixed. Every other dishwasher I have had experience with started up as soon as you turned it on.

Also where can I get manuals for old appliances? I also now have a KitchenAid "Superba 24 Retained Heat" double oven with some features I don't understand (model# KGBS245SBLO).

Hi,

Yea, those models back then had that feature, you can run the hot water at the sink before you start the dishwasher, and make sure your hot water heater is at about 120-130 degrees, that should help cut the delay time down.

You can try to get those manuals at Sears.com (http://sears.com) then click Parts.

Thank you for the answer. We do have the hot water heater set a bit low because we have little kids. I will try to run the sink water first. Thanks also for the tip on the old manuals at Sears. My oven manual is available! I had been searching everywhere on the web.

Hopefully the running of the hot water at the sink will help.

Great to hear your oven manual is available at Sears.:)
