It loads water to the point of overflowing. I have to manually stop the water. This is a GE top loader, 8 cycle, 2 speed if that makes any difference.

Thanks

there is a small thin hose that gets clogged where it meets the tub clean and try.. if that does not help check hose for small pin holes.. if ok there pressure switch is bad... remove front panel to see tub connection and console for switch and switch connection... this site will help you

Thanks. You know what? I managed to fix it by trying that very thing. At first I thought it may have been a faulty water level switch but I cleaned out the hose, there was a clog that I managed to blow out.

my same washer is having the same problem but also the motor isn't spinning at all... we got it to fire up once or twice by fooling around with the switch...

also the switch feels kind of loose... err when you pull it out it isn't solidily out.

so after reading this: http://www.american-appliance.com/service_pages/ge_washer/gewashdiagchart_newer_style.htm e... i'm guessing its the water pressure switch, where would that be though?

Hi pieter,

Yes, the water level pressure switch is in your washer console, you should see 4 torx screws on the top of your console, then the console pulls forward.

You may want to read this link as well:
