I read one question that was close to mine but not enough to ensure me of my problem! My GE WJSE311OAOWW fills and drains but no spin or aggitate? Checked the belt, looks good, motor hums but it must be good if it still drains? Right?

Hi,
No, your model has a separate drain pump (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=908512). If your motor (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=963750) is just humming then you either have a bad motor or bad contacts on the motor or wire harness where it connects to the motor or your transmission is locked up.
First take the belt (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=3481) and and see if you can turn the transmission (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=279566) pulley both ways freely.

Guys may I join in on your request/response string?
My washer does not spin but does agiate and drain. I have not disassembled it yet so I can not say what it looks like in there. I have read a string that says to check the tranny. Is that what you are trying to do when you spin the trans in both directions? If it does not spin I assume that the trans is the problem. Is that a good assumption?
Thanks for your responses.

Yes, then your transmission is bad if it won't turn both ways.
If your washers are under 5 yrs. old, then your warranty should cover the cost of the transmission, but you would have to pay for labor.

turns clockwise fine and the tranny turns with it. Turns counterclockwise freely by itself? Is that normal, the motor contacts look ok.

Turn the transmission pulley, 1 way should turn the transmission, the other way should make the agitator turn.:)

Using the belt on the motor to trans I can trun both ways. The trans turns one way and the agitator the other.
When in the wash cycle (no clothes)the agitator works as normal. Then the washer fills with water in the rinse cycle, drains and the tub spins. But in the spin cycle the motor just hums and no action.
What next??

Try taking off your belt, and then put it in spin, if the motor still hums, then its likely you have a bad motor.
Here is the new motor for your model:

Jake,
The motor and transmission seem to be working.
I have attached a picture of the timer with lines and numbers that coresponds to the cycle actions described below.
1. Washer loads with water and agitates: Time 2:45 minutes
2. Water drains
3. Spins: 8 seconds
4. Spins: 8 seconds
5. Spins: 1:35
6. Washer loads with rinse water and agitates: 2:50 minutes
7. Water drains and a click sounds then suction sounds is heard: 1:00 minute
8. A very small amount of water is loaded
9. I used a screwdriver (as a stethoscope) on the motor and it was not attempting to run -- the only sound heard was the timer (I think)
10. Machine stopped -- 7 minutesafter the water drained at step #7.
Does this change your train of thought about my "No Spin cycle" problem?

Very interesting, don't think I have ever seen one of these GE's do this before.
I would definitely contact GE (http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/) to have a tech. come out to look at it.
