We recently got an Amana washer (used) being told it needed a new belt, put a new belt in, and it smoked itself on the motor pulley, as if the drum/gear box was seized. It worked fine through the agitation/wash cycle, about 20-25 minutes, until the spin cycle started from what we can tell. Right now the pulley spins counter-clockwise to agitate/wash freely, when the brake is on (which is normal from what I can understand) and when you turn it clockwise, it unlocks the brakes and allows the drum to spin freely. Could there be something wrong with the brake not releasing, or something needs to be lubed, or...??? TIA!
