Model CHE9800BCM

I'm guessing the oven is a 1998 model.

This afternoon the wife used the self-cleaning function. This evening the oven would not pre-heat but top broiler did work. The oven reached 200 degrees after 20 minutes or so.

I replaced the lower element in Feb. 2004.

Is it time to replace the lower element again?

I purchased a lifetime warranty on the burner for $4.

Thats very odd, that it would go out again.

This is the one you got the lifetime warranty on:

Ok, then just re-order it, there shouldn't be any charge if you bought the lifetime warranty, maybe just the shipping charge.

Thanks for your time. I bought it locally at a SERV-ALL parts store so I just have to take it in tomorrow.

I've run into another snag. As I removed the screws that hold the bake element in place the red wire that attached to the sliding clip was burned and not attached to anything but the element. Where does this connect? Is it a repair that I should tackle or should I make a service call? Is there a largere problem that should send me looking for a new range?

Can you trace where that red wire goes to in the back of your range?

If your looking to get a new range, here is a good one:

I pulled off the back panel of the range and the red wire that was burned connects to the terminal the red wire of the 220 power supply. Would I be able to purchase that at my local appliance shop?

Yes, they should have that or something that will make it work for you.
