Hi folks,

I need your help. I have a Maytag gas range with convection oven, model # MGR5870ADB. The bulb in the oven had gone out and I was trying to replace it last night. As it is dark in the oven, I notice that there were 2 screws holding the assemby in place. I removed the screws and pulled on the assembly as I figured that that was how to remove the glass bubble so that I could access the bulb. I didn't realize that I was removing the entire assembly and not just the housing. The next thing I know, I hear a loud popping noise and see a flash of light as the entire assembly becomes disconnected from the range, including disconnecting the electrical leads.

I checked the fuse in the electrical panel in the basement and it looked fine. I switched it off and back on, just in case. Where the assembly attached to the leads there were two leads, one purple and one white. The connector on the white lead looked like it has some charring on it. I replaced the bulb and reconnected the assembly to the leads.

Now there is no electricity to the entire range anywhere. There is still gas going through and we can light it with a lighter, but the control panel doesn't work and we don't want to try the oven as there is no spark.

Please help.
Thanks,
Shan

Ok,

You will need to either test the voltage coming to your range with a volt meter (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=964739) or have an electrician come out to check your electric power to your range.
