View Full Version : Washer woes

I have a GE WPSE4200A0WW. The issue is that it will not agitate or spin. If I rotate the pulley on the motor: one way is just the agitator rotating, the other is the entire drum rotating. (all done with power off of course) I then overrode the safety latch and gave the washer a jump start by rotating the agitator/drum. It worked for both the agitation and spin cycles. Is there any way to narrow it down to a specific part and if it is the transmission brake is there any way to fix it myself. Thanks for the help.

I would first take your belt off the motor pulley and test it with no belt on it at all first.

If the motor still won't run on its own with the belt off, its likely your motor is bad.

Here is a new motor, in case you need to order it:
2 Speed motor & clutch kit (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=963750)

Removed belt and the motor turns in each cycle, though not very fast. I guess the pulleys take care of the speed. I stopped the pulley on the motor(clutch I guess) and the motor rod (part that goes through clutch)kept turning, until the shutdown ensued. I then put the belt back on and found no joy with the movement, either clutch or rod from the motor. Once I hand start the cycle it seems to spin fine with no shutdown. I am at a loss.

I take that back I cannot hand start it. The big pulley on the bottom seems easy enough to turn. Also I checked out the link for the motor and the plug is different in the picture, is the picture generic or specific?

Its a upgraded motor kit assembly, It comes with new wiring to hook-up to it.

Its does sound like your motor is bad.

Does it matter that my current motor is rated at 9.2/7.3 A and the one in the picture is at 5.0/3.6 A? The RPM's are also different.

No, it doesn't matter, I have installed lots of these motor kits, and they have all worked great.:)
