View Full Version : Timer stops advancing on my WSXH208A1WW

Have fixed my GE Dryer before but am having problems with my GE Front Load Washer (WSXH208A1WW).

Timer started sticked a couple weeks ago. It starts fine and advances through several stages of the wash fine but stops in certain places. If I advance it to the next click of the timer, it starts working again but it happens several times throughout the wash.

Have replaced the timer 3 times since. Assumed the first 2 timers were bad so returned for a replacement. These are factory new timers from GE. Still have the same problem.

Talked to a dealer locally who knew a technician. Tech told him something about a despenser cam that is the problem but can't find anything like that on the schematics. He said part would be about $25 but I'd rather replace it myself rather than have a service call.

Hope you can help. Thanks
Scott

Hi,

These front load GE washers are made by Frigidaire. The Frigidaire brands of these same washers had the exact same problem, its your motor speed board thats bad causing this.

Here is a new one for your model you can order:
Motor speed control board (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=877728)

Check your warranty, some of these boards are have a 2 yr. warranty on them.

Jake,
Thanks a bunch for this reply. I finally ordered a motor speed control board and it came in yesterday.

For the first time in months, the washer works like new once again.

Again, thanks for your advice.

One more question.

Like I wrote, I replaced my motor speed control and it is working.

However, I bought my washer/dryer pair about 6 years ago and bought GE 4 year ext warranty so at this point, all warranties are of course expired.

Since the original speed controls on these washers had problems according to the information you provided in answer to my origianal post, have they fixed the problems with the motor speed control boards they are selling now or do problems still exist in the boards they are selling as replacement parts.

I noticed that my new one is shaped a little different than my original but hope I did not buy one that might have the same manufacturing defect as my original board.

Thanks again.

Not to worry Scott, it has been upgraded, I have never had to change one of these boards twice.:)
