I have a whirlpool slide in gas range GW395LEP it is just over a year old and have had nothing but problems. The burners work fine as I use them daily but the oven is nothing but problems. I had suspected for some time that the oven wasn't keeping the temperature but never got around to proving it since I hardly use it. So about a month ago I was at the store and picked up an oven temp guage. And low and behold the temp wasn't holding it would hit the desired temp but then the temp started to drop off pretty quickly and never go back up unless I messed with the settings. So I called whirlpool up and they sent out a guy who said it was the temperature sensor and had to be replaced.

So $200 later that night I have the same problem. So they send him out again and instead he says he will talk to the techs and get back to me. A week later I call whirlpool up and they inform me that he ordered a part and would be out the next week (thanks for calling) He comes out the next week and installs an electronic control panel, the techs told him that was the problem. So that night I turn the oven on to 425 and it holds the temp for about 30 minutes then it starts to drop, 400, 375, 300, all the way down to 200 but the display still reads that the oven is on and at 425. So I called whirlpool up again and again for the 4th time the guy came out looked blankly at the oven and said he was going to order an electronic control panel a different one from the first one (the first one is the one that the display is attached to) and this one is a separate one. So here I am clueless, with a useless oven surrounded by whirlpool service people who are taking crapshoots at repairing my oven. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

There should be more numbers or letters after 'P' in your model#.

There is, its B to indicate it is black but I don't think the color has anything to do with the problem

Yes, look what I get with just the B:

Well, at any rate, You need to ask for the lead tech. to come out to fix this issue, I have never seen one of these newer models before unfortunately to help you fix it.

Thanks, I have had the tech out and he has contacted Whirlpool numerous times and it was their techs that recommended sorry scratch that they said that the problem was with the electronic control board and replacing that would solve the problem. I just thought that someone on this board might have some insight or experienced the same problem. Especially seeing as the "techs" "appliance repair person" are all taking guesses at my expense and my time to solve a problem that they have absolutly no clue as to the cause or the solution. I just thought that maybe I could get a bit further on this forum then I have with Whirlpool, thanks for your time but I think I will start searching the internet for some helpful insight.

Yes, thats good that you came to post the issue here, now if someone with the same exact issue comes to reply to this thread, and knows what the tech. did to theirs to fix it, they can hopefully post the fix here for you.
