My Frigidaire dishwasher model # FDB636GFS4 stopped working before the cycle was complete, there was no pump noise or anything and there was still water inside. Since I havent been happy with the unit and have had to repair various items in the past, I just decided to replace it. While removing the unit from under the counter the thing suddenly came back to life and it finished off the cycle. Is there anything specific that I should look for that may have caused this to happen?

Yes, a loose power connection thats in your main incoming power junction box underneath your dishwasher, make sure the wire nuts are not loose, that would cause it to come back to life when moving it.

is your junction box cover.

Thanks for the reply Jake.
The unit has been removed and I checked for poor connections but everything seemed to be tight. Read a few posts about timer failure, given the circumstances do you think the timer could be bad? Is there any way to test them?

Yes, then its possible your timer is bad, but if you have already had a few repairs already done on your dishwasher, I doubt it would be practical to spend $95.00 on a new timer, but its your choose.:)

Here is the timer for your model:
