Hi I have a Canadian Whirlpool Gold black freestanding electric range with a ceran top (hidden elements) and push button controls.
Information from the plate near the botom drawer is:
Mod: GKP84904
Ser: IMM3486781
Type: 30p
The manual is a generic one with no model number indicated, but has 9754172B written at the bottom of the cover.
Whirpool Canada say they do not sell a manual indicating how to access even the oven element, but offer service calls at $70 for 1st 20mins and $20 per hour after that of course parts costs are extra.

Problem
The broiler turns on okay ( Observed during preheat and selfclean ). The oven element is hidden and goes in from the right side (had to remove right side panel - facing range). I found the oven element was broken and sort of swollen so I replaced it , however with the oven in bake, no voltage appears at the element terminals, even though I hear the clicking sound and the display showing 'heat' on and off. Is there another component I need to check?
I have no idea of how to get to where the wires get to the front control panel. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Unfortunately, we don't have online access to your Canadian model#. You may need to schedule service with Whirlpool Canada.

Thanks for your help. I am looking at American models which might be similar to what I have (hopefully). Will you have access to data for thie Whirlpool Gold model ( WHIRLPOOL GR563LXSB ) or the RF362LXSB

It may be similar, but if I post a part you need it may not match up exactly with your model, so I hesitate to do that.

Just take a voltage reading from your main control board bake terminal to see if the proper voltage is getting to your bake element.

Thanks. I found an electricl schematic ( P/N 9782238) somewher in teh back of the range, and I found teh front panel flips forward after removing a couple of screws ate the back. i now have access to the back of the control board. from my schematic, I will monitor the voltage as you suggested. Presently my likely culprit is a black relay on the control board.

Yes, if your black relay on the control board is bad, its likely you will need to get the whole new control board, as separate parts like the relay are almost impossible to get, but you may get lucky if you look around electronic shops in your area.:)
