Hi I have a washer that up until yesterday worked fine. I did started a load of wash and came down and checked on it and the washer was still filled with water. The washer runs through the wash cycle but doesnt engage the spin cycle. There is no noise of any kind. I can put it on the rinse cycle and it works. The spin cycle doesn't work on any of the settings. Any idea of what it could be?

If the spin cycle is not working AT ALL, there could be a problem in the washer's lid switch, the lid switch actuator or possibly the timer.

There may be other possibilities as well depending on the exact model number of the washer ("80 series" isn't it) and how it was designed. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag *on your appliances* in the 'Repair Parts' section of my site linked below.

The model# is 110.22872890. How can I determine which of the three posibilities it may be?

Hi Jackr,

That model# dosent seem to come up, i get close , there is a 11022872101, which is a normal washer, then another one that comes close to that model# is a compact washer.

At any rate, It seems that your lid switch is not working.

When you close the lid slowly do you hear a click noise? Like a switch sound?

If you push down on the lid when its closed then do you hear a click?

If not, then your lid switch is likely broken.

If you do hear a click sound when you push down on the lid, the lid switch is still bad and will need to be changed.

Hope that helps some.

Jake,

Thanks so much for responding both you and Dan. I will get the part tomorrow and change it. I do hear a click but for $12.00 you can't go wrong. I will let you know if that does the trick.

Thanks from the washing machine impaired.

Could be the speed control switch, The motor switch, the motor start windings, the terminal connector, The timer.

Lots totest from now im sorry to say.:(

But if you replace all those parts, it will cost u more than a new machine.

Sears will charge $65.00 to come out, and give u a estimate.

If you decide not to repair it, you still have to pay the $65.00, but he or she will give a $65.00 off coupon to use on the purchase of a new washer.

Where can I find how to replace a lid switch for a Kenmore 80 series model # 110.28803890? Every area I've looked on the machine to get to it, seems like there are screws to remove the top, but I can't get to the screws to remove it. I can't find a repair book to fix it. It's a $13.99 part and I don't want to spend $140 for a Sears repair person to fix it for me.
