View Full Version : Low H2O pressure on Frigidaire SxS

Many times I've encountered low water pressure at the water dispenser. I've checked the following:

Pressure at the house... Filter... Screen on the valve... I've also screwed in/out the saddle valve to make sure the puncture wound isn't clogged. I have this problem with my own at home as well. It takes long enough to fill the glass, that I've opted for the kitchen sink.

I have an odor/plastic filter ahead of the fridge. It's done this since day one. I've tried bypassing the stock cartridge filter with Frigidaire's bypass. I've been scratching my head on this service call for years. Is it possible the water line nut is tightened to tight?

Are the affected models the same ones?

Can you provide a modeland serial number?

Frigidaire did have some problems with specific models around 2003---freezingthe water filters (or a bypassed filter housing).

No.... Not the same #'s. I understand that people with R.O. systems will have a significant loss of pressure, but this doesn't explain mine at home. I'm going to overhaul tonight, and tell you what I come up with. This is a GLRS234ZAW.

I'm going to replace the thermostat control kit. It's been in need of the changeout since day one, but I have been living with the temp. fluctuations.

I just hate working on my own crap when I get home! I still have to wonder about tightening the plastic water line too tight. The back of my head says this reduces the I.D. of the tubing. Stay tuned.

I take it you used a self-piercing saddle valve? Most refrigerator manufacturers warn against their use.

If so, I suggest you either install a drill type saddle valve or better yet, a regular plumbing valve. BTW. Saddle valves (of any type) should NOT be installed on the underside of a horizontal water pipe as they will tend to clog up more readily.

I have heard of a couple of cases where after changing the filter in a Whirlpool/KitchenAid fridge, the only thing which would get the water flowing properly again was installing a regular plumbing valve on the house water supply. Whirlpool could not explain why the old filter worked Ok with a saddle valve but not the new filter.

aaaahhhh..... I was unaware of this. I knew about the location, but not the type. I will swear off the saddle forever! Thanks!
