Hi guys,

My kenmore washer quit working the other day. The timer has quit moving. It will stay at its same position for hours on end so we end up moving it through the cycles every so often. (actually this is too much hassle so we quit using it altogether)

I am about to order a replacment timer for the washer but was intersted in knowing if it could be something else besides the timer? The quick connect timers aren't cheap.

Also, how hard is it to change a timer? I'm pretty good with fixing things around the house but not an expert by any means.

Thanks!

Hi James,

Where does the timer stick at? In the wash cycle while its agitating? In the spin cycle? Before the Spin cycle? Between the wash and spin cycle while nothing is happening?

Thats very important, because if it stalls before the spin cycle while its full of water, that could mean a bad lid switch.

Hi Jake,

we usually start the washer at the prewash cycle and it sticks there. When we move the knob to wash cycle, it sticks there as well. Same goes for spin when we move the knob there as well.

i.e. we start the washer before dinner at pre-wash cycle. When we get back 4 hours later, the washer is in the same state and the knob is in the same position.

Yup,

Sounds like the timer.
