View Full Version : Smoothtop Replacement?

We bought a house with a Magic Chef range that has a smoothtop. We never had one before and bought the recommended cleaner. It seems that the previous owner burned something or never properly cleaned the top. Two burners have a noticeable white stain around them. Since it can't be cleaned, how difficult is it to replace? ( By me- not by a pro). Could you guesstimate the cost? Thank you. Bill

If you post the appliance's exact model number we can look up the cost of a replacement glass top for you.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

The glass comes already installed in the metal frame surrounding it but I'm afraid I don't know what kind of job replacing the whole cook top will be on that model.

You can see the replacement part at the first link and exploded parts views at the second. I hope you're sitting down when you read the price for the part.

I think we'll be saving for a new range. Thanks.
