I had some problems with water overflowing the tub and the load going off balance at different points in the cycle. I looked at the belt and saw it was very worn. I replaced the belt hoping that would fix problems. Now, belt runs smoothly, but washer is still easy to go off balance in wash/rinse cycle, but especially when spin starts. Goes off within 10 seconds with a load of clothes. Drum shakes a lot. Springs seem OK. Spins OK with no clothes in washer (that's not too helpful, though). Any ideas would be appreciated. In web search, I've come across bumper pads -- and I do have a few velcro looking black pieces on the floor of the washer that must have come from somewhere.

Sounds like your snubber pad will need to be replaced, its a very big job to do, and you would need the repair manual in front of you to do it properly.
