I have a Whirlpool Model RF376LXGW electric range. The bake element is not working. In pre-heat, the timer counts down and the pre-heat light is lit. Even after that, no bake element heat. The broil element does work. I checked both elements with an ohm meter and both check out the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Whirlpool Model RF376LXGW electric range. That model number looks incomplete, did you get it right off the appliance's model and serial number tag? Most Whirlpool model numbers end in a numerical digit.

You can find tips for locating that identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

The bake element is not working. The broil element does work. I checked both elements with an ohm meter and both check out the same. Any ideas?Unless there is a break in the wiring to that element, I can't see the cause being anything other than a problem in the electronic control itself, if the element tests as good. There doesn't look to be anything else in the circuit would should stop power from getting to the element.

Sorry, I missed the last number. The model is RF376LXGW1That's better.

I also checked the wiring from the element to the control unit and had continuity there also.Other than right at the end terminals, the wiring doesn't usually fail very often.

Too bad it points to the most expensive part as the likely cause but at least it isn't as expensive as some electronic range controls which can be $250+! That's usually why I recommend consumers purchase an extended warranty when they purchase such appliances.

JFYI

Let us know how you eventually make out.
