I own an Amana gas range model AGS761. I am trying to use the self-clean cycle. When I press the "clean" button, the cycle appears to being normally, but then the word "door" appears on the display accompanied by a regular beep, and the cycle does not proceed. This indicator is not covered in my owners' manual, so I'm not sure what it means. Thanks for any assistance!

There should be another number that begins with P on your model# tag.
Does this model have a door lever you move the right or left?

The number to which you refer is P1142635N L. It does not have a lever for the door. I think this particular model is supposed to have electronic control of the door lock/latch, and that is probably what isn't working. (I'm guessing!)

Sorry for the delay, its been very busy.
Thanks,
It sounds like your oven door lock/latch assembly is bad.
Here is the one for your model:
