its 4 years old. it fills with water fine then when you here a click and when the washing used to start all that happens is an electric humming noise. did the motor die or get jammed? also while trying to figure out what was going on the inside of the washer filled with white smoke/steam and the heater now has a 1 inch discoloration (blackish gray). did the heater also go bad? thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Items can get jammed in the chopper assembly, like seeds and other hard stuff, that can jam the motor impeller causing the motor to hum, Here is a Thread that shows you with pictures of that chopper, I would check that first.

Feel the heater for bad/rough spots, if so, then you will need to change the heater assembly.

i took out the grinder. it was a bit bent and a rock was in there. started it up and same thing. just an electric hum.

the lights indicate sense/soak
the heater has rough spots in three different spots
if the heater is broke will the washer not start because the water is not hot enough?

there is a "heating" light. it is not on.

i cant turn the grinder by hand (or turn the attachment point of the grinder (motor shaft?) by hand.

thanks again

after playing with it more it looks like the heater is working.

no mater where during the cycles the only lights that are on are sensing/soaking and add a dish. no water ever gets squirted and the motor never runs.

If your washer is just 4 years old the parts are still under warranty. I just had them send me a new pump moter assembly for the same model. Some advice, this washer is a piece of junk. Even with a new pump and moter, it does not have enough pressure to spin top spinner. If you use a srewdriver or butter knife you can bypass the door switch and watch the washer do its thing. My poor wife has been complaning about this for 4 years. Under the dishwasher is a bag with wiring diagram and diagnostic codes. You can hit a sequence of buttons and manually step through cycles and see where problem is.

Yea, Sounds like the motor is bad, Check your warranty guide like Wade suggested, most of these have the 5 yr. part warranty on the pump/motor assembly.

Thanks for the info on the warranty. I can't find my receipt, and I wanted to know if you have any ideas how I can get verification that my unit is still under warranty? Problem with our unit is that it's so noisy is seems like a MAC truck is rolling through the house. We went with American made manufacturer because everyone told us that parts for foreign made appliance are hard and expensive to source. My guess is that repair and part replacement is less of an issue with foreign (European) models.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
