Have a problem with no water getting to dishwasher. Water from same line does get to a second appliance, an undercounter freezer's icemaker. I can add water from the sink tap during wash and rinse cycles and everything gets washed and water drains. TEchnician came today and checked out all electrical connections - they are fine. Indicated problem might be with water entry valve but could not do necessary further look see today because 'it would be complicated and take extra time'. I have found part in the link from this website. Interestingly when I called the Bosch customer support line the lady was quite rude and told me that my quote of model number did not exist; neither did 4000 series of Bosch dishwashers. REferred me to the technical support 800 line which, guess what, is out of service or 'not working at this time'.
Can anyone tell me how certain it is that the valve in question is the problem and needs to be replaced, should it be a difficult and costly job for a technician (I am not sure I can do this kind of work). Should I ask him the price of the part and offer to purchase it myself if the price is jacked up a lot? HOw much time should it take to replace the valve? Thanks for any answers. Freiherr |

It is likely the valve is the problem, but it is always best to know it is the problem before replacing. A couple electrical checks with a multimeter should determine if the valve is indeed the problem, but as the technicians mentioned, the Bosch isn't the quickest dishwasher to check something so simple. That is usually why the service rates are a bit higher than say a Whirlpool dishwasher, but if you can pull the unit from the cabinet, the valve is in the left front corner. A good tech should have it in, out and done in under 30 minuets. As for buying the part yourself for the tech to put it in, you can ask, but be aware any warranty on the part will then be your responsibility which means he may warranty the valve replacement, but if he has to return due to the valve failing again, there most likely will be another labor charge. If the tech didn't diagnose it the first time, fire the company and either do it yourself, or find someone that will solve your problem. It doesn't sound like that service company values your business.
